Windows and doors

Windows and doors, installed by crews that only do this

Pella specialists with several dedicated install crews, handling everything from the first measurement to the final inspection.

Chapter 01

What a window swap gets wrong

A window is a hole in a wall that you are trusting to stay dry. Most trouble starts at the opening, not the glass: an opening that is out of square, a frame that is not shimmed to the right gap, or flashing that sheds water the wrong way. Any of them can leave a sash that sticks, a draft you chase for years or water working into the wall where nobody looks. A door has the same weak points at the threshold, which is why it deserves the same care as the frame.

Careful installs begin with careful measurement. A measurement taken at the opening itself, rather than off an old drawing, is what lets a new unit sit true. Everything after it, the flashing, the fit and the finish trim, depends on that first number being right. Will Potts, one of our estimators, has more than 25 years in windows, doors and siding, and that experience is what a good first look at an opening is made of.

Install crews that do only this

PDQ does not borrow carpenters for window days. We run several dedicated window and door install crews, and our lead installers are James Swope, Austin Pletcher and Jay Hughes. We are a certified window and door installer, and we specialize in Pella, a company we partner with, while installing other brands as well. Whichever unit you choose, it is set by people whose daily work is exactly this.

Bill Riphahn had PDQ put in a few windows before he hired us for a major remodel. He wrote afterward that planning, communication, quality of work and clear billing all stood out, and that Marcus was amazingly skilled and professional. A window job is a good way to see the standard for yourself before you hand us something larger.

Chapter 03

From the first measurement to the final inspection

That phrase is ours, and we mean it literally. The job starts with a measurement, moves through selection and scheduling, goes to a dedicated crew for installation, and ends with a final inspection and a walk-through with you. Nothing along that line is handed to a stranger, and you always know whose crew is on your house.

Windows and doors are also the cleanest way to change how a house looks from the street. The ranch project at the top of this page shows new windows, doors and siding working together as one elevation instead of three separate purchases. If you are in Topeka, Lawrence or Junction City, call (785) 235-1511 and we will set up a free on-site meeting.

PDQ specializes in Pella, installs other brands too, and runs several dedicated window and door crews led by James Swope, Austin Pletcher and Jay Hughes.

Initial measurement to final inspection

One opening at a time, three marks on the plan

  1. Measured at the opening

Every job starts at the opening itself. Will Potts, our estimator with 25 years or more in windows, doors and siding, brings that eye to the first look.

  2. Installed by a dedicated crew

James Swope, Austin Pletcher and Jay Hughes lead our window and door install crews. Pella is our specialty, and we install other brands too.

  3. Inspected and walked through

The job ends with a final inspection and a walk-through with you, backed by our satisfaction guarantee.
